What about supplies...

What about “supplies?”

Can I sell supplies on www.craftique.us? What do you consider supplies to be?

Well, these as well as many other questions about supplies have been received so here goes the scoop on supplies.

What are supplies? Supplies are items used to make someone’s product. Supplies can be a variety of things such as fabric, yarn, wood, metal, and the list goes on.

Now as in a question I received, “If I am shopping at Hobby Lobby and I am buying a string of beads but I only need one can I sell the rest as supplies?”

Why not sell what you don’t need. That is just good business and that is what having your unique boutique is all about “good business!”

Sometimes when I buy yarn I buy way too much because I want to be sure I have enough for whatever I am making. I have (before) used a pattern as the guideline in the yardage of yarn and bought accordingly but then I never seem to have enough. Then I have to make a mad dash back to the store and hope they have the yarn in the same dye lot to match. There is nothing more disheartening than not having the exact same color yarn to finish a project. I made a white scarf and goodness me, I never realized the many different “shades” of just plain white

Can you sell the extra yarn on craftique, you sure can because it is a supply and you had extra.

The same goes for any item that you have extras of.

Another question concerns buying something at a very low price ( on sale) and then selling on craftique. You can do this because that again is just “good business” and we want you to have a great business on www.craftique.us!

I don’t have a Hobby Lobby anyplace in my area. The nearest one is an hour drive away. I look online at the sales and sometimes Hobby Lobby has better sales than the local craft supply stores. So, if you buy “on sale” items and can sell them at a price that gives me (the consumer)a better price than the local craft store of which I use my gas and have to pay sales tax and you make yourself money, then why not.

Now some people call this re-selling. It is not re-selling when you purchase and pay sales tax for items. Re-selling is buying wholesale and then selling retail.

There are handmade supplies such as the amazing hand blown, hand worked lampwork beads! These are so uniquely made that in themselves they are not just simply supplies but works of art! They can be listed in both categories.

I have a friend that makes hand carved wood buttons. He doesn’t sew but just makes the buttons from exotic wood left from larger projects. His buttons are truly wonderful and actually are sewing supplies but he sells them as “unique button art” in his store.

Back to supplies and what can be sold on craftique.us, whatever you as a boutique owner feels that your item is be it art, supplies, handmade or store bought, you list it as how you want it.

Enough for today.

Happy Holidays to all!!!
